Welcome to Birmingham’s | RSS! The site’s focus is on the folks who live and/or work in the Greater Birmingham area because we have some of the most interesting blogs and people on the planet, in my humble opinion, and that’s why this site exists. The focus is on the bloggers and their work, not me or this site.
What’s The Deal Here?
Call Birmingham’s | RSS a sort of Yellow Pages of sorts that aggregates the RSS feeds of the Greater Birmingham area’s bloggers. They get categorized and depending on the frequency of their posts, get moved towards the top of their respective pages. Not dumping on those who post less often but if you tend to write a lot, I feel you should get noticed for it.
What’s New
A posting from one of the listed bloggers that displays the word ‘NEW‘ beside it indicates a new post by them. Hovering your cursor over the blog post itself will render a summary of that post along with some sharing links. As usual, click on the post link to visit the author’s site and read their post. The link will open a new tab or window depending on your browser’s settings.
Most blog’s headlines will show the three latest posts from that blog with the exception of those found in the News category. They will display 5 headlines as they turn out more articles to their feeds than most bloggers do. This is not to say that other blogs aren’t worthy of more than 3 headlines. It’s that I’ve found that the majority of blog owners don’t write posts that often. Some do but the majority don’t. So the 3 headline limit seemed to fit.
Categories
I’ve set up some categories already and will most likely add more as it becomes obvious a new one is needed. A category is a general description that a blog seems to fit in. How a blog winds up in a particular category isn’t necessarily rocket science. First off, I preview the blog to try and get a feel for it’s focus or theme. If it seems to fit a particular category, I add it to it. Simple enough. However, if a blog doesn’t seem to fit any present category, I may add it to a generalized one until more like it can be found or discovered. Then a new category would be justified in being created. Some blogs may seem to fit in multiple categories due to multiple RSS feeds and/or topics covered. If I’ve missed one let me know via the Get Listed! contact form and I’ll remedy it as soon as possible. I’m only human so I may very well miss something.
Get Listed!
If you’d like to get your blog listed then visit the Get Listed! page and fill out the form. I’ll get you listed as soon as possible. This would actually be better than trying to notify me via Twitter and I’d have a record of your entry to boot.
I sincerely hope you find it useful and enjoy discovering others in our blogging community.
